AltumChoice was developed by Earth Networks and initially used to monetize their WeatherBug desktop application. The AltumChoice business unit was created in 2007 to validate the model outside the company across several content verticals such as online games, news, entertainment, video and Internet connectivity. In 2009 the business was spun-out to create AltumDigital.
The newest member of the product family is AltumLive. Also developed by Earth Networks, the first weather sponsorship was sold in 2002 for lightning alerts. This campaign proved alerts could be captured in real-time and be precisely targeted to consumers in an effected area and delivered via content in an ad tag. Since then 100’s of sponsors have aligned their brand with weather related alerts.
Today, AltumLive alerts reach beyond weather content and the confines of a network of weather websites and instead are delivered via a network of networks in a programmatic method, with the ability to reach every consumer who is on an ad supported site with relevant, important and sometimes lifesaving content.
